I’m Back Y’all.

4 Sep

Hello All!

School is back in session, I’m officially a ceramics major, and a senior, and back into my blogging routine. So much has happened this summer, while I was not able to write often, I managed to move, start a new job and a new internship, and even make it to the beach a couple of times.

ImageHere’s a shot from my room mate trip to OCMD.

As sad as I am to see this summer end, I am much more excited to get back to school! This is my first semester as a full blown Ceramics major and I am so ready to learn some new techniques and get my portfolio built up!

Here’s my first little mug of the semester! Its the most satisfying feeling to see this.

I also started a new adventure as the production intern at Karen Singer Tileworks here in Philadelphia!

So being that this is a new semseter, in a new house, a new major, new job, new internship , with lots of new summer friends and life lessons; I’d imagine now is as good a time as any to lay out some broad goals for myself…

1. My number 1 goal is to expand my Ceramics portfolio, keep the blog up to date on my studio shenanigans, and update my artist website. (http://www.jenniferkhall.com/) <<This thing needs some major work

2. Expand my photography repertoire (I’m assisting to shoot a wedding this weekend!)

3. Find a healthy balance between work and play (isn’t this everyone’s biggest issue?)

On that note I’d like to leave you with some words of wisdom I stumbled upon the other day which really inspired me for this upcoming Autumn…

Someday I’ll Have Cable Again.

27 Jul

Hello All!

I’m sorry for the serious infrequency of posts lately, but this gal has been very busy MOVING!

FINALLY!

That’s right folks I made it out of North Philly Alive.

Lots of pictures to come as my new house comes together!

But I wanted to share about one of my recent artistic endeavors. Although, my primary focus in painting and drawing, I also poke around in photography. I have the privilege to do my Aunt and Uncle’s family portraits while we were at the beach last month.

It was such a blast to dust off my old photoshop skills.

It’s pretty easy to take great photos when you have such good looking family 🙂

So, hopefully my posting will get back to normal. Unfortunately I feel like I’ve been living the “Little House on the Prairie” lifestyle for the past couple weeks without cable. I think we all know moving is fun for about 5 minutes then it just gets old. For instance, my dear friend got me a coffee maker for the new house, which was incredibly sweet. As we were sitting around unpacking my room, I thought I would make some coffee. In my excitement over new and shiny things I over looked one small detail… we had not moved the kitchen things from the old house yet. So here we were… with a full pot of coffee… and no cups. Luckily, my brilliant friend Elena came up with the idea of drinking it out of empty beer bottles (because we had plenty of those).

Lots of pictures and updates to come!

Dance on Dance on Dance

26 Mar

Happy Monday!

I think Mother Nature decided to bring me back to reality after such an awesome weekend!

But we won’t go there, it’s probably a sore subject for everyone.

This weekend was packed to the last minute with all kinds of dance related goodies. My dance team at Temple University (Inmotion Dance Ensemble) competed at the Groove Competition in Lititz. It was an EARLY morning, I was up at 5 curling my hair and gluing on fake eyelashes. But it was worth all of the lost sleep!

Looking this good takes hard work.

The whole time I watched the competition I kept finding myself fighting back tears. I missed doing things like this so much! Dancing is such a huge part of my identity.

I’m so proud of my team!

This dance wound up placing 8th overall!

And InMotion won the judges choice for “Best Dance Crew”

But I couldn’t stick around for awards, I had to drive back to York! I had Lady Capitals practice at 12:30. We learned the cutest new dance 🙂 I’m so excited about it!

Then I was up early AGAIN on Sunday because it was PHOTOSHOOT DAY! That’s right, the Lady Capitals shot a calendar 🙂

Tori managed to snap this picture of me, don’t I look thrilled? P.S- GIANT DONK

I also managed to sneak this pic of her, isn’t she GORGEOUS!?

She also has a lovely blog, you can find it here:

It’s been so amazing to be able to dance with my best friend again, and the fact that we had photo time slots back to back made this day even better! Except for the fact that I had to head straight to work after the shoot (womp womp).

Hopefully you all had lovely weekends as well

Jen
