Detox Day 1… And I’ve Already Cheated!?

19 Mar

Hello All!

After day 1 of this Dr. Oz detox, I’m beginning to seriously re- evaluate my relationship with my blender. After blending up what seemed like gallons of kale, avocado, and flax seed I’m beginning to hate it. What happened to the days when you only made me margaritas and milkshakes, blender?

I’m going to stick it out though! Unfortunately, I cheated with a few bites of Guinness stew today from our lovely friend a few doors down. Why are free mashed potatoes thrown in my face on the first day of my cleanse!?My justification was that mashed potatoes are good for your soul.

Also, I skipped the “snack” smoothie of the day because I was just so full! Just the “lunch” drink filled me up for hours. It’s all healthy things, I just can’t believe how much!

Starting my morning with some green tea and the local news forced me to actually sit down and collect myself before starting my day. And it didn’t make me feel all jittery the way coffee does. I might need to add this in to my normal routine!

I’m going to try and extend this cleanse through Thursday, wish me luck! Hopefully there will be no more cheating 😛

On another note, there is a lot going on at art school this week!

This is clearly a work in progress, but it feels good to be making my own work! It’s the world’s best therapy… well this and dancing.

But more on that later!

Spring Cleaning: Mind, Body, and Soul

18 Mar

Happy Monday!

So for those of you who do not know my Gma, she is a super fan of Dr. Oz

…and Oprah… and Dr. Phil…. and Rachel Ray…

you get the idea!

Well! I don’t know about you but I find Dr. Oz completely overwhelming. Whenever I watch his show I feel like my profession should be popping vitamins. I mean really who lives like that?!

Sometimes though, he comes up with ideas that seem do- able. A friend of mine recently did his “3 Day Detox Cleanse”. While following her progress on Instagram I thought, “That looks like she really has her life together, she’s cleaning out her insides and what not…” So, in my effort to become more organized and calm, I thought should try it!

I’m particularly fond of the idea of soothing baths every night 🙂

So I pretty much cleaned out the produce section at my grocery store, bought an obscene amount of coconut water, and borrowed my mom’s blender! Starting today I’m Spring Cleaning, Mind, Body, and Soul… Even though Spring isn’t technically here until Wednesday (Also Zach’s 21st birthday!)

I’m also getting back into running! Hopefully I can make it more of a regular practice like my cross- country running sister… probably not. But I do enjoy it!

We’ll see how this goes!
